Annual General Meeting 2023

Welcome to the landing page for the Leicester CAMRA 2023 Annual General Meeting.

This year’s AGM will be held at Wygston’s House, Jubilee Square, in Leicester. In addition to the normal proceedings, there will be finger food (formerly known as ‘nibbles’) and a raffle. We are also hoping to receive a guest speaker this year. The AGM is to take place on Thursday, 19 October, at 7.30pm.

*** Please remember to bring your CAMRA membership card! ***

  1. Purpose of an AGM
All AGMs follow a strict agenda. This is to keep proceedings short and uniform. At the AGM your branch committee will be expected to report on the progress made with actions that it set itself at committee meetings, such taken in response to members’ queries as well as those decided at the wider (i.e. regional or national) level of the Campaign. The AGM is also an opportunity for the membership to gain insight into the branch accounts, which the Branch Treasurer publishes in his/her report. After a break follows the Election of Officers (including but not limited to those on the committee), a process overseen by an interim Chairperson (habitually the Regional Director). Any branch member may stand for any of the branch positions and is, in fact, encouraged to do so. This is normally done via a nomination form, which the Branch Secretary must receive prior to the AGM. (You can also download this form using the blue button in the bottom right corner.) You may nominate yourself if you wish. All nominations require a seconder. If more than one nomination is received for the same position, a vote will be held. After the Election, the newly elected committee members take over the running of the branch for the next year. AGM business should normally be concluded within one hour (and this includes the break!). Any remaining time is dedicated to a mini branch meeting, where the foremost or most immediate matters facing the branch are discussed.

  3. Roles of branch & committee officers
Please click/tap a branch position below to find out about the skills and levels of commitment that each role entails. These roles are considered essential in running a healthy and active branch. (There are additional positions we would love to receive nominations for. We are, in common with most other CAMRA branches, an ‘ageing branch’ and particularly looking for a Young Members Contact and Social/New Media Co-ordinator. Help with collating beer scores, which are crucial for POTY competitions and the Good Beer Guide, is also very welcome.)
  4. Nomination form
Please use the blue button on the bottom right of this page.

Whether you are a member actively involved in branch business, have recently become a CAMRA member and would like to lend a hand, or just want to be part of the democratic process, please consider attending.

We look forward to welcoming you.
